Invisalign

As an alternative to traditional braces, Invisalign is a process that helps straighten your teeth through the use of custom-made plastic aligners. This method doesn’t require metal brackets, wires, or rubber bands to move your teeth where they belong.

When planned and implemented correctly, Invisalign results are comparable to traditional fixed appliances, allowing people who initially refused braces to reconsider the idea.

How does Invisalign work?

To start your Invisalign regimen, the staff at Prime Smile Dental Group takes dental impressions, X-rays, and photographs of your mouth. Technicians in a lab then use this information to develop a three-dimensional model of your mouth.

This digital model gets manipulated by the Invisalign specialists and allows them to move each tooth to its final position. Then, those movements get divided into a sequential progression. Each advancement corresponds to a unique set of aligners throughout the Invisalign treatment process.

Our dentists at Smile Boutique will instruct you to wear each set of Invisalign aligners for up to three weeks. While it’s best to keep them in as much as possible, your dentist also instructs you not to wear your aligners when eating, brushing, or flossing. It’s imperative to remove them when drinking coffee, tea, and other liquids that stain.

Why Choose Invisalign Over Traditional Braces?

Not only is Invisalign a more aesthetic alternative to traditional braces, but patients at Prime Smile Dental Group also choose this tooth straightening option because it helps reduce plaque accumulation, tissue inflammation, and gingival recession customarily associated with braces. Additionally, Invisalign tends to be less painful and noticeable than metal braces, wires, and rubber bands.

Besides improving periodontal health, Invisalign reduces tooth loss — often associated with root resorption — that occurs with traditional braces. Root resorption can cause hard tissue loss in several areas, including:

Cementum: Hard connective tissue that covers your tooth roots
Dentin: Responsible for sensitivity; found beneath your enamel and cementum
Bone: Connect your teeth to your jaw

Why Choose Invisalign Over Traditional Braces?

First, the dentist needs to devise an initial treatment plan before creating the special aligning trays. Three-dimensional digital images are taken of the entire jaw. These images allow the dentist to move specific teeth on the screen, view the jaw from different angles, and also foresee what the face might look like in years to come. In essence, this technology can show how Invisalign® trays will change the facial aesthetics.

Once planning is complete, a unique set of aligners is made. The total amount of aligners required varies with each individual case, but 20-29 sets per arch is typical.

What Are Some Considerations When Wearing Invisalign® Trays?

Life with Invisalign® aligning trays may take several weeks to get used to. The trays should be worn constantly, except when eating and drinking. It is important to remove the trays when consuming food or drink because food can become trapped between the tray and the teeth, causing tooth decay.

Usually, new trays are necessary every two weeks, and progress between appointments can be seen with the naked eye. There is no doubt that Invisalign® aligning trays have revolutionized orthodontics. Invisalign® is renowned for being both comfortable and effective.
