Dental Implants

Dental implants replace the tooth roots with prosthetic materials. Usually consisting of a titanium post, the dentists at Smile Boutique surgically position implants into the jawbone beneath the gum. Doing so allows for the mounting or replacement of teeth or a bridge.

Two types of implants:

1. Endosteal

As the most popular type of dental implant, endosteal implants made of titanium are shaped like small screws and placed within the jawbone.

2. Subperiosteal

When a jawbone isn’t healthy enough to support an endosteal implant, subperiosteal dental implants are utilized and placed under the gum above the jawbone.

Dental Implant Procedure

1. Initial Consultation

One of the dentists at Smile Boutique will perform an initial examination and obtain X-rays to develop a plan for your surgery

2. Dental Implant Placement

On the day of treatment, you will receive local anesthesia or IV sedation as your dentist places the implant. Discomfort after surgery is similar to that of most other dental procedures. Side effects for local anesthetics are very rare, and the anesthesia usually lasts for only a couple of hours.

2. Dental Implant Placement

During the healing process, our implant and jawbone grow together. This process is known as osseointegration and enables your mouth to form a long-lasting foundation.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants play an integral part in both your general health and the health of your other teeth. Without dental implants, lost teeth cause chewing problems, additional tooth loss, and other subsequent issues.

Implants help improve your appearance, confidence, and ability to both eat and participate in an active lifestyle. Dental implants never decay and, with proper maintenance, last a lifetime.
